The Avant Garde Project is a series of 20th-century classical-experimental-electroacoustic torrents digitized from LPs whose music has in most cases never been released on CD, and so is effectively inaccessible to the vast majority of music listeners today. This is wild stuff, so check it out if you've never heard this sort of music before. The analog rig used to extract the sound from the grooves is near state-of-the-art, producing almost none of the tracking distortion or surface noise normally associated with LPs. AGP1-101 are now available for direct download in the archive at dream.cs.bath.ac.uk/AvantGardeProject ======================================= AGP103 is transcribed from a now-OOP CD containing all but one of the tracks by Henry Kaiser that were included in AGP102, together with many of the tracks from his follow-up effort "Aloha". The tracks from "Outside Pleasure" are offered in part so AGP partisans can compare them with the LP transcription of the same tracks in AGP102, which I think sounds a shade more detailed. The Aloha tracks are also live guitar solos without overdubs, which is astonishing considering how rich and complex they are. 01 - Economy of Scale 02 - The Shadow Line 03 - Aquirax Aida 04 - The Stormy Present 05 - Christmas on Bear Mountain 06 - 945 07 - The Invisible Hand 08 - Information Mechanics 09 - What the Dead Men Say 10 - The Empty Set 11 - Outside Pleasure 12 - The Farmer in Heaven 13 - The Blood at the Back of the Harp 14 - Joaquin (Twenty-Four Eyes) Miller NOTE: To the best of my knowledge, these recordings are currently out of print.
