The Avant Garde Project is a series of 20th-century classical-experimental-electroacoustic torrents digitized from LPs whose music has in most cases never been released on CD, and so is effectively inaccessible to the vast majority of music listeners today. This is wild stuff, so check it out if you've never heard this sort of music before. The analog rig used to extract the sound from the grooves is near state-of-the-art, producing almost none of the tracking distortion or surface noise normally associated with LPs. AGP1-32 are now available for direct download in the archive at dream.cs.bath.ac.uk/AvantGardeProject Ignore the seeders/leechers statistics, as they often show no seeders when in fact there are some. For the time being, a new AGP torrent is being seeded around midnight each Friday night (GMT), and is advertised on the I Hate Music Forum. ======================================= AGP36 continues our survey of avant-garde music from Berlin in the 1920s and 1930s. This is the second of two installments devoted to selections from a 4LP set released on Thorofon in 1986, entitled "Musik Zwischen den Kriegen" (Music Between the Wars). One CD of material from this set has been released and is currently available. A title search for "The Thirties" on Amazon should bring it up. This installment and AGP35 contain almost all of the remaining tracks. Since these compositions are no longer under copyright protection, I have included a few that are available in other recordings, but most of these tracks feature compositions that are not currently available on CD in any recording. The torrent includes a text file containing the English-language notes from the booklet that came with the set.
