The Avant Garde Project is a series of 20th-century classical-experimental-electroacoustic torrents digitized from LPs whose music has in most cases never been released on CD, and so is effectively inaccessible to the vast majority of music listeners today. This is wild stuff, so check it out if you've never heard this sort of music before. The analog rig used to extract the sound from the grooves is near state-of-the-art, producing almost none of the tracking distortion or surface noise normally associated with LPs. AGP1-39 are now available for direct download in the archive at dream.cs.bath.ac.uk/AvantGardeProject ======================================= AGP41 is the second of two installments of out-of-print works by Mauricio Kagel. Hallelujah for 16 solo voices a capella is from 1967, and is performed by the Schola Cantorum Stuttgart, directed by Clytus Gottwald. Tracks 06-09 are four works of the eleven that make up Programm (1971/72). Recitativarie for singing harpsichordist is performed by Gerd Zacher. Die Mutation for men's choir and obbligato piano is performed by the Chor des Westdeutschen Rundfunks directed by Herbert Schernus, with Aloys Kontarsky on piano. Charakterstuck for zither quartet is performed by Klaus Waldburg, Hans Krasser, Kurt Klinger, and Albert Zumbusch. Siegfriedp' for cello is performed by Siegfried Palm. Furst Igor, Strawinsky for bass voice and instruments is from 1982, and is sung by Boris Carmeli with an instrumental ensemble directed by Mauricio Kagel. All tracks were transcribed from German pressings in excellent condition. The torrent includes a text file containing the liner and booklet notes from the three LPs from which these works were transcribed.
