The Avant Garde Project is a series of 20th-century classical-experimental-electroacoustic torrents digitized from LPs whose music has in most cases never been released on CD, and so is effectively inaccessible to the vast majority of music listeners today. This is wild stuff, so check it out if you've never heard this sort of music before. The analog rig used to extract the sound from the grooves is near state-of-the-art, producing almost none of the tracking distortion or surface noise normally associated with LPs. AGP1-47 are now available for direct download in the archive at dream.cs.bath.ac.uk/AvantGardeProject ======================================= Track 01 of AGP49 features the work of the French trio, Trio Instrumental Electroacoustique, whose work comprises AGP48. This last track is by the great French electroacoustic composer Bernard Parmegiani. It is derived from his earlier composition Violostries. The remaining tracks are from another INA-GRM LP featuring the work of Alain Savouret. Track 02 is an electroacoustic composition, while the remaining tracks are played by Alain Savouret on electric organ and harpsichord, and Gerard Fremy on piano. This latter work includes rapid, harmonically dense note runs as well as reverberatory passages reminiscent of Bo Anders Persson's, Proteinimperialism (AGP16) The torrent includes text files with the English language notes from the Trio Instrumental Electroacoustique LPs and French language notes from the Savouret LP, as well as four images from the Savouret LP. One is from the front cover of the LP, and is suitable for use as the CD cover for this installment.
