The AGP starts a new year with the first of a set of installments transcribed from CDs, and provided through the generosity of an AGP partisan in Germany. This week's selection was programmed by our content benefactor himself, and features the work of the Swiss composer Heinz Holliger. I have a few works by Holliger in my stacks (all currently available on CD), but had never heard these works before listening to them in preparing this installment. I haven't probed them deeply, but to my untutored ear they have an Italianate sound (think Maderna and Berio), with interesting deployment of tonal combinations.

The installment includes a ZIP archive with scans of the CD booklet notes relating to the works featured (again, thanks to our content benefactor). The JPGs are oriented for optimal printing in portrait format, but could be rotated in one's image viewing software for better reading on-screen.
