AGP96 features
works by two composers who studied with the great Olivier Messiaen:
Allain Gaussin and Susumu Yoshida. The influence of Messiaen is evident
in the lovely sound combinations produced by both composers. Two of the
works, in fact, are dedicated to Messiaen: Utsu-Semi by Yoshida (which
is still the best evocation of crickets I've ever heard) and Eclipse by
Gaussin.
This installment contains complete transcriptions of two LPs (Calliope
CAL1853 and EMI C 069-83037), both included in the excellent Musique
Francaise d'Aujourd'Hui collection. The installment includes a PDF file
with scans of the notes included with both LPs, all of which are in
French. The installment fits on one 80-minute CD with a whopping two
seconds to spare, as long as you burn it DAO without pauses between
tracks.
