Media
Mission Statement
NOS-DREAM is an open-access electro-acoustic studio and laboratory
seeking to introduce composers, sound designers and others involved in
electro-acoustic media to researchers and developers, in order to promote
the development of applicable and practical software resources, and to
support composers and media content creators. The Open Studio includes a small
multi-channel studio and playback suite, as well as extensive computing
facilities. The studio currently supports sound reproduction over six channels.
The Studio has extensive contacts nationally and internationally, as well
as with local academic and commercial organisations.
Primary Aims of the Studio:

to promote understanding of the technical and aesthetic issues in
electro-acoustic media, for example through the provison of Internet or
CDROM-based educational resources, through practical workshops, demonstrations
and seminars, and through other publishing activities

to research and develop computer-based tools and applications for
composers and media creators, whether originated locally or not, and to
make these available under public-domain or open licenses wherever possible

to collaborate and co-ordinate with other national and local
studios and centres concerned with electro-acoustic and related media

to work with interested individuals and groups in the academic and commercial
sectors where this will further these objectives

to work with and support the international electro-acoustic community
where circumstances and resources permit

to assist composers and media content creators locally and nationally through
the provision of technical support and facilities, and through other means
which may from time to time be available to the Studio
